Zinc Deficiency
Symptoms
Symptoms appear after 10 days of germination.
Necrotic spots (brown) at the tip of cotyledonary leaves appear.
The chocolate brown spots appear on older leaves.
Later on affected leaves get shed.
New leaves are small in size.
Remedies
If zinc deficiency is noticed in standing crop then 0.5% foliar spray of zinc sulphate is recommended thrice at an interval of 10-15 days.
Apply Zinc Sulphate 25 kg/ha in light soils and 50 kg/ha in heavy soils once in 3-4 years.

Sulphur Deficiency
Symptoms
Shortening of internodes.
Stunting of Growth
Appearance of many lateral branches giving bushy appearance.
Length of petiole is reduced.
Leaf margins curl inward and turn necrotic.
Young leaves are severely chloritic.
Remedies
In sulphur deficient soils use single super phosphate and ammonium sulphate.
Apply 20 - 40 kg Sulphur per hectare depending upon the soil type.
For light soils 20 kg/ha.
For heavy soils 40 kg/ha

Boron Deficiency
Symptoms
The symptoms are very similar to Zn deficiency symptoms.
Dull yellow colour develops in the intervenial portions of older leaves.
Remedies
No remedial measures known.

Boron tolerant varieties should be taken.
